Peter Zimzim Desh is the CEO and Founder of the African Wealth Management Authority (AWMA) in South Sudan. He is dedicated to advancing wealth management skills, environmental management, estate development, and financial inclusion across Africa, with a particular focus on South Sudan. He collaborates with the AWMA to promote investment opportunities on the African continent and will attend the African Financial Services Investment Conference in London in October 2024 to expand his political influence.
The Republic of South Sudan, located in East Africa, covers a land area of 620,000 square kilometers and has a population of about 15 million. It comprises 10 administrative states and 3 administrative regions. As one of the least developed countries globally, South Sudan had a GDP of only $4.4 billion in 2020. The country is rich in petroleum and mineral resources, such as iron and copper, but its industrial and infrastructure development, including roads, bridges, and ports, are extremely underdeveloped. Commodities are primarily imported and expensive, and the population’s education level is low. Medical and health facilities in South Sudan are lacking, with an average life expectancy of 57.3 years, which is among the ten lowest in the world.
